Jammu and Kashmir weather update forecasts rain and hailstorm before hot and dry spell

SRINAGAR, June 3, 2026 — The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a comprehensive weather forecast and safety advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting a shift from wet weather to hot and dry conditions over the coming week.

On June 3, the region is expected to experience partly to generally cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain, thundershowers, or gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour at many places, alongside brief intense showers at a few locations.

The intensity is projected to increase between June 4 and June 5, with most places likely to witness one or two spells of rain, thundershowers, hailstorms, and gusty winds, accompanied by brief intense showers in select areas.

By June 6, the weather will remain generally cloudy with brief showers at scattered places, eventually transitioning into generally hot and dry weather from June 7 to June 10.

In light of these conditions, the weather department has issued an advisory warning of potential thunder, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds reaching 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, gusting up to 60 kilometers per hour, alongside brief intense showers at isolated to scattered places from June 3 to June 6.

Residents and travelers are strongly advised to remain indoors during periods of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds to ensure public safety.

Furthermore, authorities have recommended the temporary suspension of boating and shikara riding on regional water bodies until weather conditions stabilize.
