Indian Navy conducts unique underwater yoga session ahead of International Day of Yoga 2026

VISAKHAPATNAM, June 20, 2026 — As a run-up to the International Day of Yoga 2026, INS Satavahana conducted an innovative underwater yoga session today. The event featured 40 participants from the unit who demonstrated exceptional breath control, concentration, endurance, and composure while executing a series of synchronized yoga postures beneath the water surface.

Led by Lieutenant Commander Aarush Sharma and conducted by in-house naval yoga practitioners, the session seamlessly blended the ancient wisdom of yoga with the demanding underwater environment.The initiative highlighted the critical importance of physical fitness, mental resilience, emotional balance, and operational readiness for naval personnel.

Through this unique exercise, participants experienced firsthand how controlled breathing, mindfulness, and discipline can enhance performance under challenging conditions.

The successful event stands as a testament to the commitment of the Indian Navy to promoting holistic well-being and embracing creative approaches to physical fitness, reinforcing the official global theme of Yoga for One Earth, One Health.
