Preparatory Meetings Held at District Court Complex Udhampur Ahead of 80th Independence Day Celebrations

UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 06, 2026: Comprehensive preparations for the upcoming 80th Independence Day celebrations commenced today at the District Court Complex in Udhampur through two high-level coordination meetings. The initial session was chaired by Kalpana Revo, Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority and Principal District and Sessions Judge, Udhampur, with overall supervision provided by Sumati Sharma, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority. Held in the Office Chamber of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, the executive meeting brought together key administrative and civil officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Assistant Executive Engineer from the Public Works (R&B) Department, Chief Executive Officer of the Municipal Council, and the Manager of J&K Bank Main Branch. Deliberations focused extensively on venue preparedness, seating arrangements, reliable power backup, sanitation drives, traffic management, robust security protocols, ceremonial etiquette, and inter-departmental synergy required to conduct the national function with utmost dignity and precision. Emphasizing meticulous planning and strict adherence to safety protocols, Kalpana Revo urged all administrative departments to work with collective responsibility to ensure law, order, and high standards throughout the celebrations.

Following the inter-departmental review, a second coordination meeting was convened in the Conference Hall of the District Court Complex specifically with the Para Legal Volunteers of the District Legal Services Authority. This session was organized to finalize volunteer deployments, streamline duties, and leverage the national event as an opportunity to expand legal awareness and public outreach. Para Legal Volunteers were assigned detailed responsibilities, such as guiding visitors, assisting senior citizens and differently-abled attendees, maintaining orderly public movement, distributing literature on free legal services, and supporting safety measures across the premises. Revo commended the dedication of the volunteers and urged them to execute their assignments with discipline, courtesy, and professionalism. Echoing these sentiments, DLSA Secretary Sumati Sharma highlighted that the Independence Day gathering serves as an ideal platform to educate the public on grievance redressal mechanisms and welfare schemes. To ensure seamless execution on the main event day, Sharma assigned specific tasks and scheduled a comprehensive mock rehearsal. Both meetings concluded with a unified action plan, designated timelines, and a shared commitment to host a dignified, patriotic, and well-coordinated event.
