Indian Navy Takes Delivery of Indigenous Diving Support Vessel Nipun in Visakhapatnam
VISAKHAPATNAM July 31 — Hindustan Shipyard Limited delivered Nipun, the second Diving Support Vessel built for the Indian Navy, today at Visakhapatnam to significantly boost deep-sea operations.
Drawing its name from the Sanskrit word for adept or capable, the vessel features nearly 75 percent indigenous content aligned with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Equipped with state-of-the-art diving gear, Nipun can perform deep-sea saturation diving down to 300 meters and acts as a mother ship for the Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel to evacuate personnel during submarine emergencies.
