Massive drug haul destroyed in Jammu and Kashmir crackdown

PULWAMA, July 9 — The Economic Offences Wing of the Kashmir Crime Branch and the Anti Narcotics Task Force carried out the destruction of a large quantity of seized narcotic drugs and contraband substances.

The disposal took place at the incinerator facility located at the IGC Lassipora in Pulwama, following explicit orders from the court.The destroyed contraband items included cannabis, marijuana, and various psychotropic tablets that had been seized during multiple recent anti-narcotics operations in the region.

The entire disposal process was conducted through a scientific and environmentally compliant incineration method under the direct supervision of the official Drug Disposal Committee.The destruction process was chaired by Abdul Waheed Shah, who serves as the Senior Superintendent of Police for the Economic Offences Wing Kashmir and the Chairman of the Drug Disposal Committee.

Other key officials present at the facility included Kubra Nazir from the Anti Narcotics Task Force and Abdul Bari from the Economic Offences Wing Kashmir, along with several other officers who ensured the operation strictly adhered to legal procedures and court directions.

This legal initiative reinforces the ongoing commitment of the government to the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign, which aims to curb drug abuse and dismantle the wider narcotics network across the country.

Authorities emphasized that timely and lawful disposal of seized substances is a crucial step in preventing the recycling of illegal drugs back into society.
