BSF and Punjab Police seize massive cache of arms near International Border
AMRITSAR, June 19, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against cross-border weapons smuggling, the Border Security Force and the State Special Operations Cell of Amritsar arrested one suspect and recovered a massive cache of illegal arms and ammunition near the India-Pakistan International Border.
The joint operation resulted in the seizure of an AK-47 rifle, 25 pistols, and 368 live cartridges, dealing a severe blow to illicit trafficking networks in the region.A preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested suspect was operating under the explicit instructions of an Australia-based associate.
This overseas handler allegedly utilized social media applications to share the exact coordinates of the weapon drop location along the border. Following the successful recovery and arrest, a formal case has been registered at the State Special Operations Cell Police Station in Amritsar.
The police and border security forces are currently conducting further investigations to establish all forward and backward linkages associated with the seizure.
