J&K Chief Secretary Reviews Migrant Rehabilitation: Orders Immediate Allotment of Completed PM Package Transit Flats by July
SRINAGAR, JUNE 08: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a high-level meeting today to review comprehensive welfare and rehabilitation measures for Prime Minister (PM) Package employees and displaced communities across Jammu and Kashmir, issuing a strict directive to hand over all completed transit flats to eligible employees by the end of July.
Attended by senior administrative secretaries, departmental heads, and engineering chiefs, the meeting thoroughly assessed infrastructure development, utility readiness, career progression, and digitized record management for Kashmiri Pandits, West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs), and families displaced from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). Relief Commissioner (Migrants) Dr. Arvind Karwani reported that out of 6,000 sanctioned transit flats, 4,648 have been completed with 3,257 already allotted, prompting the Chief Secretary to demand immediate occupancy of the remaining finished units alongside the rapid resolution of service promotions, seniority lists, and inter-district transfers.
Additionally, Principal Secretary DMRR&R Chandraker Bharti confirmed that significant milestones are being reached for community infrastructure, including 50 percent physical progress on the PoJK Bhawan at Suketar—slated for completion by January—and the near-completion of the Jagti Community Hall, as the Government reinforces its commitment to ensuring secure, functional, and dignified living conditions for all displaced populations in the region.
