JAMMU, June 01, 2026 — As part of its ongoing anti-drug campaign under the “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan” initiative, the Jammu (Rural) Police arrested two suspected drug peddlers in separate incidents under the jurisdiction of the Nagrota Police Station.
In the first operation, a patrolling team from the Sidhra Police Post apprehended Tanveer Ahmed, a resident of Mahore currently staying in Sidhra, during a routine patrol in the Asrarabad area. A personal search of the suspect led to the recovery of approximately 6.5 to 7.5 grams of a heroin-like substance.
Following his failure to justify possession of the contraband, authorities registered FIR No. 140/2026 under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.In a subsequent action nearby, the same police post intercepted another individual, identified as Mohd Dilawar of Gulshan Colony, Sidhra, during a patrol near the local National Investigation Agency (NIA) office.
Officers recovered roughly 2.5 to 3.5 grams of a similar heroin-like substance from his possession. Unable to provide a lawful explanation for carrying the narcotics, Dilawar was taken into custody, and FIR No. 141/2026 was filed under the same sections of the NDPS Act.
Investigations into both cases are actively underway as the District Police Jammu reiterates its commitment to eradicating narcotics trafficking and urges the public to share any information regarding local drug networks.
