Srinagar Meteorological centre issues rainy weather update and monsoon forecast for Jammu and Kashmir

SRINAGAR, May 29, 2026 — The Meteorological centre in Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update predicting intermittent rain, thundershowers, hailstorms, and gusty winds at many places across Jammu and Kashmir on May 29 and 30.

Following this spell, the weather is expected to remain generally dry from May 31 to June 3. Another round of disruptions is anticipated on June 4 and 5 with one or two spells of rain, thundershowers, and gusty winds, before returning to generally dry conditions from June 6 to June 8.

Alongside the short-term weekly forecast, the department shared the India Meteorological Department second stage long-range forecast for the 2026 Southwest Monsoon.

The extended forecast indicates normal to below-normal rainfall over many parts of the Jammu and Kashmir meteorological subdivision during the June to September period, with the exception of the eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir and the Ladakh region.

However, the region is projected to experience above-normal rainfall during the upcoming month of June 2026.
