JAMMU, April 15, 2026:- In a significant administrative development, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has officially ordered the shifting of government offices from the winter capital, Jammu, to the summer capital, Srinagar, for the 2026 summer season.

According to Government Order No. 786-JK(GAD) of 2026, issued by the General Administration Department, the transition—traditionally known as the “Darbar Move”—will see offices operating on a five-day week schedule closing in Jammu on April 30, while those on a six-day schedule will conclude operations on May 2.

All move offices are mandated to formally reopen in Srinagar on Monday, May 4, 2026. To facilitate a smooth transition, the government has authorized a Special Move Traveling Allowance (T.A.) of ₹25,000 per moving employee and ensured that the salary for the month of April will be drawn early, on April 29.The comprehensive order outlines extensive logistical arrangements to ensure the safety and convenience of the moving workforce.

The Jammu & Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) has been tasked with providing a dedicated fleet of buses starting May 1, supported by a convoy that includes mobile workshops, recovery cranes, and empty standby buses to prevent delays due to breakdowns.

Furthermore, the J&K Police will provide security escorts for the convoys, ensuring they receive priority passage through the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Banihal Qazigund Tunnels.

Medical aid stations will be established at key points along the highway—including Udhampur, Ramban, and Banihal—while the Food and Civil Supplies Department will set up dedicated ration counters near residential colonies in Srinagar to support the relocating officials and their families.
