West Bengal Foundation Day Celebrated with Cultural Evening at Jammu Kashmir Lok Bhavan
SRINAGAR, June 20, 2026 :- The Jammu Kashmir Lok Bhavan hosted a vibrant cultural evening to mark the West Bengal Foundation Day, bringing together officials, security personnel, students, and people from West Bengal currently residing in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to the people of West Bengal, praying for their happiness, well-being, and prosperity. He described West Bengal as a vibrant expression of Indian culture whose folk arts, musical traditions, and festivals symbolize social harmony and cultural richness.
He highlighted that the region’s unparalleled contributions to literature, art, music, and science have offered a fresh perspective to society, serving as a hub for both political awakening and spiritual consciousness.The Lieutenant Governor paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters, great revolutionaries, and historic icons from West Bengal, emphasizing the land’s glorious contribution to the freedom struggle and nation-building of India.
He noted that the region has always been a focal point for patriotism, social awakening, and ideological leadership, serving as the home to monumental figures such as Sri Aurobindo, Rabindranath Tagore, Subhas Chandra Bose, Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Swami Vivekananda, Swami Prabhupada, Khudiram Bose, Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, and Mahasweta Devi, who collectively reshaped the spiritual and national consciousness of the country.
He expressed his hope that the state continues to scale new heights of growth and development.Recalling the pivotal role of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Manoj Sinha praised his historic struggle and leadership in spearheading the movement for the complete integration of Jammu Kashmir.
He noted that building upon the foundation of national unity strengthened by Mookerjee, Jammu Kashmir is advancing today on a new path of development and prosperity while saluting his indomitable courage, patriotism, and dedication to the motherland. The Lieutenant Governor concluded by calling upon the youth to draw inspiration from these monumental personalities and actively contribute toward building a strong, prosperous, and developed nation.
