Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan praises Ladakh Pashmina goat farm for empowering local women

UPSHI, June 20, 2026 — Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan visited the Pashmina Goat Farm in Upshi today to witness the ongoing efforts to preserve and promote the unique Pashmina heritage of the Ladakh region.

Following his visit, he commended the institution for its significant contributions toward sustainable livestock management and the socio-economic development of local communities, with a specific focus on empowering women involved in Pashmina production.

The Vice President highlighted that Changthangi goats and the world-renowned Pashmina they produce represent the ingenuity and rich cultural traditions of the local population. He expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the scientists, staff, and local stakeholders associated with the farm.

He noted that their collective work is vital in strengthening rural livelihoods, increasing economic participation for women, and preserving an invaluable national asset for future generations.
