Tezpur Hosts Mass Indian Army Yoga Event Led by General Upendra Dwivedi

TEZPUR, June 21, 2026General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, led the Indian Army’s International Day of Yoga celebrations today in Tezpur, Assam. Nearly 15,000 participants joined the event, including troops and families of the Gajraj Corps, local students, teachers, civil administration officials, Central Armed Police Forces, tea plantation workers, and distinguished achievers from across the region.

The celebrations took place simultaneously at multiple locations across the North East, showcasing a unified community approach toward promoting health, wellness, and national well-being. General Dwivedi, along with the President of the Army Wives Welfare Association, interacted with attendees from various backgrounds, praising their enthusiastic participation and emphasizing how collective action helps build a healthier and more resilient nation.

A major highlight of the gathering was the environmental initiative titled Jan Bhagidhari Se Pariyavaran Sanrakshan. During this drive, General Dwivedi planted an Arjun sapling, underscoring the strong connection between yoga, environmental stewardship, and sustainable living practices.
