Srinagar hosts mega public outreach programme to address public grievances

SRINAGAR, June 04, 2026:Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education Sakeena Itoo presided over a mega public outreach programme at the Banquet Hall, where numerous public delegations, individuals, and civil society representatives presented their grievances and developmental demands.

The high-profile event was attended by Member of Legislative Assembly Eidgah Mubarik Gul, Member of Legislative Assembly Hazratbal Salman Ali Sagar, Member of Legislative Assembly Lal Chowk Sheikh Ahsan Pardesi, and Member of Legislative Assembly Chanapora Mushtaq Ahmad Guroo, alongside senior district administration officials and a large gathering of local residents.

Interacting extensively with the participants, the minister listened to their concerns and assured them that the government remains fully committed to addressing genuine public issues in a prompt and effective manner, noting that such platforms are vital for strengthening the connection between the administration and the public.

During the session, the minister directed the present officers to maintain a proactive approach in resolving public issues and emphasized the importance of ensuring the timely disposal of complaints. She stated that every grievance must be treated with seriousness and sensitivity, adding that responsive governance is essential for building public confidence in government institutions.

To ensure that citizens do not face unnecessary delays in availing government services, she underscored the need for enhanced coordination among various departments and instructed officials to undertake regular field visits, monitor developmental works on the ground, and maintain continuous engagement with the community.

The participating delegations raised various demands, including the augmentation of healthcare services, the upgradation of educational institutions and roads, the filling of vacant posts in the health and education sectors, the improvement of civic amenities, and the inclusion of deserving beneficiaries under welfare schemes.

The minister issued on-the-spot directions for several cases and instructed the concerned departments to submit action-taken reports on issues requiring further examination. Reaffirming the government’s vision of inclusive development, she concluded by stating that sustained efforts are being made to strengthen healthcare delivery, improve educational infrastructure, and expand social welfare schemes across Jammu and Kashmir without discrimination.
