Sopore police secure court order to auction vehicle seized in drug trafficking case
SOPORE, June 15, 2026 :- Sopore police have obtained an order from the court under Section 52A of the NDPS Act to dispose of another vehicle seized in connection with a narcotics case registered at the Sopore police station.
The action comes as part of a sustained crackdown against narcotics trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan. The vehicle was allegedly utilized for the transportation of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, and following the completion of legal formalities, the court permitted its disposal through a public auction.
This development marks the eighth conveyance seized in narcotics-related cases to be processed for disposal by the Sopore police under the NDPS Act. The auction process for the seven previously seized vehicles has already been initiated, with one vehicle having been successfully sold through public auction.
This legal procedure forms part of a broader strategy by the Jammu and Kashmir police to target both drug peddlers and the logistical infrastructure supporting narcotics trafficking. Timely disposal of these vehicles also prevents the deterioration of assets during prolonged judicial proceedings while ensuring strict compliance with statutory provisions.
