Northern Railway Launches Joint Security and Ticket Checking Drive at Jammu Railway Station

JAMMU June 18,2026 :- A special security and intensive checking drive was conducted at the Jammu Railway Station by the Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force, and the commercial department’s ticket checking staff to prioritize passenger safety and convenience ahead of the summer holidays and the annual Amarnath Yatra.

As a major gateway welcoming lakhs of tourists and pilgrims from across the country every year, the station faces a heavy passenger influx and distinct security challenges during the pilgrimage season.

In response, the joint operation was launched to ensure peace, order, and tight security within the station premises. RPF and GRP personnel carried out thorough searches of all arriving and departing trains, platforms, waiting halls, foot-over bridges, and parking areas while maintaining special vigilance for suspicious luggage or unclaimed objects.

Simultaneously, the ticket checking staff penalized unauthorized passengers and those traveling without proper bookings, while also sensitizing commuters on the importance of carrying valid tickets and identity proofs. Passengers were additionally briefed on emergency helpline numbers and urged to report any suspicious activity immediately.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal noted that passenger footfall increases manifold during this travel period, making safety, security, and convenience the top priorities for the division.

He emphasized that the joint drive aims to ensure a safe, hassle-free journey for every traveler and urged the public to use station facilities responsibly. The Jammu Division reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining all necessary arrangements regarding safety, cleanliness, and passenger assistance throughout the duration of the Amarnath Yatra.
