NIA Raids 18 Locations in Punjab and Haryana Over Terrorist Shahzad Bhatti Cases

NEW DELHI, June 9, 2026 — The National Investigation Agency conducted coordinated searches across multiple locations in Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday in connection with three distinct terror-gangster network cases linked to Pakistan-based terrorist Shahzad Bhatti.

Agency teams targeted 18 different locations spanning nine districts across the two states, examining several individuals to gather critical information.

During the extensive operation, investigators seized various digital devices and incriminating documents containing details related to communication networks, financial transactions, and suspect activities, all of which have been sent for forensic and technical examination to uncover a larger cross-border conspiracy.

The ongoing probe seeks to unravel the network operated from across the border by Bhatti, a gangster turned terrorist. As part of this effort, the federal agency issued formal notices to specific individuals to join the investigation for deeper interrogation, with the day’s raids primarily focusing on identifying Bhatti’s active associates and co-conspirators.

Investigations have already traced a March 2025 grenade attack at the residence of social media influencer Roger Sandhu in Jalandhar, Punjab, directly to Bhatti, who was subsequently chargesheeted as an absconder by the agency in April 2026 along with another co-accused.

Agency findings have further established that Bhatti masterminded two major explosions at police facilities. These include a November 2025 blast at the Women Police Station in Sirsa, Haryana, for which the agency chargesheeted nine individuals in May 2026, including Bhatti and a fellow Pakistan-based handler named Sohail Ahmad, alias Sohail Baloch.

The operative was also linked to a January 2026 car bomb explosion at the Baldev Nagar police station in Ambala, Haryana, where an arrested suspect was found to be in direct contact with him. Federal investigators are continuing their aggressive efforts across these cases to trace all remaining operational linkages to the attacks.
