Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Vows to Dismantle Drug Syndicates in Jammu and Kashmir
JAMMU, April 30, 2026 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched the Drug-Free Jammu Kashmir Campaign in Doda today, delivering a stern warning that every drug smuggler, local peddler, and member of drug syndicates will be identified and imprisoned.
Addressing a large gathering, he emphasized that narcotics smuggling is a form of silent terrorism that poses a hidden threat to the youth, families, and the foundation of society. He asserted that drug abuse is not merely a law and order issue but a disguise for terrorism, and confirmed that drug traffickers in the region will now be treated under the law with the same severity as terrorists.
Characterizing these individuals as enemies of humanity and society, he gave his word that the administration will not rest until the networks spreading this poison are completely dismantled through a committed and relentless crackdown.
Manoj Sinha observed that the path to success in this campaign is demanding and requires a unified public movement, or Jan-Andolan. With eighty days remaining in a hundred-day intensified effort, he urged every citizen to use every moment with purpose to ensure the region becomes a national example of a drug-free society.
He underscored that this fight cannot rely solely on government machinery and requires a significant change in public mindset. Highlighting that drug smugglers often thrive on public indifference, he called for an end to silence, noting that prosperity is measured by the vigilant choices of citizens rather than just economic growth.
The campaign has already seen significant results with 350 FIRs registered and 440 traffickers arrested in the last twenty days, and he called upon schools, media, and social organizations to maintain this vigilance to prevent further infiltration of addiction.
