Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Visits Border Village Regal to Launch Key Development Projects
Jammu, May 6, 2026:- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the border village of Regal in Samba district on Wednesday to initiate several infrastructure and developmental projects aimed at transforming border settlements.
During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor laid the foundation stones for a new digital library at the local government primary school, a community hall and recreation center, and the development of an Amrit Sarovar complete with a drainage channel.
Additional improvements announced for the area include the installation of solar street lights and three open-air gyms, reflecting a comprehensive approach to enhancing the quality of life for residents living along the frontier.
Addressing a public rally, Manoj Sinha emphasized that border villages are the backbone of the nation and have transitioned from being viewed as the last outposts to the first villages of India. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prioritize these regions, which have historically faced neglect.
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the Vibrant Villages Programme as a key strategy to integrate these populations into the national mainstream by focusing on livelihood generation, road connectivity, and full electrification. He set a target for officials to ensure that no family in the border villages of Samba remains below the poverty line by the year 2030.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor also addressed local administrative concerns, reiterating the government’s commitment to providing land ownership rights to displaced persons from PoJK and West Pakistan Refugees. He noted that the upcoming completion of the Shahpur Kandi Dam would significantly boost regional agricultural productivity.
Beyond infrastructure, Manoj Sinha praised Regal for achieving TB-free status and distributed appointment orders to Special Police Officers and sanction letters to youth beneficiaries under various government schemes.
The visit concluded with a trip to the Regal Border Out Post, where the Lieutenant Governor commended security forces for their dedication and their successful role in recent operations.
