Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena announces constitution of tourism development society
LEH, June 1 — Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena announced the constitution of the Ladakh Tourism Development Society today, establishing a dedicated institutional mechanism to drive sustainable, responsible, and community-centric tourism across the region.
In a statement shared on social media, the Lieutenant Governor explained that the newly formed autonomous body will serve as the central agency for the planning, promotion, regulation, coordination, and implementation of various tourism-related initiatives. A primary focus of the agency will be ensuring environmental sustainability and cultural preservation in the face of growing visitor numbers.
The society is designed to bring together the government, industry partners, and local tourism stakeholders to create a cohesive approach to destination management. Key areas of focus for the organization will include the promotion of adventure tourism, astro-tourism, wildlife tourism, infrastructure development, and the precise implementation of tourism policies.
Through this targeted initiative, the administration aims to position Ladakh as a world-class travel destination while safeguarding its fragile ecology, rich heritage, and unique lifestyle for future generations.
