Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Approves Major Tourism Reforms to Enhance Ease of Doing Business

LEH, April 23, 2026:-Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has announced a series of significant reforms aimed at revitalizing the region’s tourism sector by prioritizing Ease of Doing Business.

The new measures focus on deregulating the hospitality industry and reducing the compliance burden for stakeholders through a unified, citizen-friendly registration mechanism.

In a move to simplify the entry process for local entrepreneurs, the administration has removed previous requirements for documents such as character certificates, specific bank balances, and educational qualifications for tour operators, aiming for a more transparent and accessible system.

These reforms are designed to liberalize the registration process for hotels, homestays, and tour operators while simultaneously extending the validity of their registrations.

By eliminating archaic regulations and minimizing bureaucratic interference, the administration seeks to align with the Prime Minister’s vision of Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.

The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that these changes will not only create a safer and more secure environment for tourists but will also help expand the local tourism industry and provide a substantial boost to the economy of Ladakh.
