Kashmir Intensifies Crackdown on Drug Networks to Build a Safer Future

SRINAGAR, April 15:- Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, led a high level crime review meeting at the Police Control Room today to evaluate the current crime landscape across the valley.

During the gathering, which included top regional and district officers, the IGP closely examined how general criminal cases are being handled. He focused specifically on clearing backlogs related to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and tracking down individuals who have evaded legal proceedings.

The district officers shared updates on their recent successes in lowering crime rates while discussing new ways to handle pending legal inquiries more efficiently.

A major portion of the discussion centered on the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, a campaign dedicated to creating a drug free region.

The IGP reviewed the progress made in seizing properties linked to the narcotics trade and the arrest of key players in drug distribution networks.

Beyond enforcement, he looked at the impact of community outreach programs and rallies designed to protect young people from substance abuse.

To keep the momentum going, he instructed officers to scale up their operations against drug syndicates and ensure that legal actions are completed without delay.

To keep the region safe, the IGP also ordered a boost in security protocols, including more frequent night patrols and a stronger presence in sensitive neighborhoods.

He made it clear that the goal is to maintain a visible and proactive security grid that protects every citizen. As the meeting wrapped up, he reminded the officers that transparency and speed in solving cases are essential for building public trust.

By focusing on high quality investigations and better follow up in court, the police aim to ensure that justice is served swiftly and effectively across Kashmir.
