J&K Weather Forecast: Light Rain and Snow Predicted Across Kashmir and Jammu Divisions
SRINAGAR, March 6, 2026 – The Meteorological Centre Rambagh, Srinagar, has issued a comprehensive weather update for Jammu & Kashmir, indicating a transition from the current dry spell to a period of intermittent precipitation.
While today, March 6, is expected to remain generally dry across all stations—including Srinagar, Jammu, Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kupwara, and Gulmarg—a shift in weather patterns is anticipated starting tomorrow.
From March 7 to March 9, the region will experience generally cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain or snow over higher reaches at isolated locations. This trend is expected to intensify between March 10 and March 12, as precipitation becomes more scattered across both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions, impacting areas such as Banihal, Batote, Bhaderwah, and various AWS stations like Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam.
Following this wet spell, the weather is projected to turn generally dry again from March 13 to March 15. However, another brief period of cloudiness and isolated light rain or snow is expected for the higher reaches on March 16 and 17.
Accompanying these changes, a notable atmospheric shift will occur as day temperatures are predicted to fall by 3-5°C from March 7 onwards, persisting through March 12.
Despite the incoming moisture, the Meteorological Department has issued a favorable advisory for the agricultural sector, encouraging farmers in all districts to continue their routine farm operations. Residents in high-altitude zones such as Sonamarg and Ganderbal should remain alert for light snowfall, while those in the plains of the Jammu division, including Samba, Kathua, and Reasi, should prepare for a slight dip in the recent unseasonably high temperatures.
