Iran Opens Strait of Hormuz for Commercial Vessels Following Lebanon Ceasefire
TEHRAN, APRIL 17: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi announced today that the Strait of Hormuz has been declared completely open for all commercial vessels.
This move comes in alignment with the ongoing ceasefire in Lebanon, with the unrestricted passage remaining in effect for the duration of the truce.
According to a statement posted by the Foreign Minister on X, formerly Twitter, the decision ensures that commercial traffic can move freely along the coordinated routes previously established and announced by the Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This strategic opening is expected to facilitate smoother regional trade and maritime logistics while the ceasefire holds.
