Indian Army Conducts Specialized Counter IED Training for Uzbekistan Personnel at CME Pune
PUNE, April 23, 2026:- The College of Military Engineering (CME) in Pune successfully conducted a specialized training course for the Uzbekistan Army as part of the India-Uzbekistan Annual Defence Cooperation Plan.
Running from March 27 to April 23, 2026, the program focused on Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) and was designed specifically for officers and sergeants from the Uzbek Corps of Engineers.
The curriculum followed a training-of-trainers model, ensuring that the participants are equipped to share their newly acquired technical expertise with their home units upon their return.
Throughout the month-long course, participants received intensive training in advanced search and detection techniques, as well as the disposal and neutralization of explosives through render-safe procedures.
The training provided the Uzbek contingent with hands-on experience using niche technological equipment, including robotics and autonomous platforms.
In addition to the technical military training, the program fostered international camaraderie by involving the participants in sports, outdoor activities, and cultural exchanges to provide a deeper understanding of Indian heritage.
