High-Stakes Industrial Disaster Drill Tests Emergency Response at IOCL Digboi
New Delhi June 20,2026 :- In a powerful demonstration of industrial safety and emergency readiness, the CISF Unit at IOCL Digboi spearheaded a large-scale, multi-agency mock drill on June 19, 2026. Partnering with the 12th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and several key regional stakeholders, the exercise was designed to rigorously test and evaluate coordinated response mechanisms during a high-stakes industrial crisis. By simulating a real-time hazardous scenario, the participating agencies successfully measured their collective speed, communication, and tactical execution under pressure.
The high-intensity exercise simulated a toxic hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$) gas leak, immediately activating a swift, synchronized multi-agency intervention. The CISF Quick Reaction Team (QRT) moved rapidly to secure the perimeter, while IOCL Fire Services, specialized medical teams, CISF first responders, and the NDRF joined forces to manage the core crisis. Their coordinated efforts covered hazardous gas detection, area decontamination, and emergency evacuations, which included the successful rescue and transport of two simulated casualties to the AOD Hospital for advanced medical treatment.
This comprehensive drill showcased seamless inter-agency synergy, drawing together personnel from the CISF, NDRF, IOCL Fire Services, AOD Hospital, Local Police, AISF, and the Home Guards. By bringing these diverse public safety and industrial teams together into a single, cohesive unit, the exercise underscored the critical importance of collaborative preparedness in safeguarding both industrial assets and human lives against potential disasters.
