Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg visits Baltal to review Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 preparations

GANDERBAL, June 15, 2026: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg visited Baltal to conduct an extensive on-spot appraisal of the administrative and logistical arrangements being established for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.

Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore and Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal Sudhanshu Dhama, the Divisional Commissioner inspected key infrastructure including the Yatri Niwas, RFID registration counters, dormitory accommodations, base camp facilities, and the local pony stand. During the field assessment, he directed the concerned departments to install clear signages, information boards, and public awareness banners at prominent locations to ensure smooth guidance and accessibility for the arriving pilgrims.

He also stressed the importance of efficient sanitation systems, strict queue regulations, traffic management, and the seamless availability of essential services along the pilgrimage route.

Following the field inspection, the Divisional Commissioner chaired a high-level review meeting at Baltal to evaluate the preparedness of various line departments. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Kishore presented a detailed overview of the ongoing infrastructure development, accommodation capacities, disaster management plans, and departmental tasks.

Reviewing the progress, the Divisional Commissioner fixed a strict deadline of June 20th for the completion of all remaining civil works to achieve full operational readiness well before the pilgrimage commences. He underscored the need for synchronized inter-departmental coordination and instructed officials to remain available round-the-clock to handle emergencies.

During the session, the Health Department officials confirmed that medical aid centers along the track will be fully operational by June 28, while specialized oxygen booths will be set up by June 25, supported by advance medical teams that have already been deployed.

Furthermore, the Rural Development Department was ordered to ensure high standards of cleanliness in public utilities, while the Jal Shakti Department and Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited were tasked with maintaining uninterrupted water and power supply with robust backup facilities.

The meeting concluded with updates from telecom agencies regarding active communication infrastructure, while transport, fire safety, and shrine board officials affirmed their readiness for the annual pilgrimage.
