DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma leads extensive World Environment Day plantation drive across Udhampur and Reasi
UDHAMPUR June 05,2026 — DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Shiv Kumar Sharma launched a major plantation drive at the Range Police Headquarters Udhampur, planting saplings alongside officers and officials to mark World Environment Day.
The environmental initiative was further extended to the CRPF 6th Battalion Headquarters in Katra, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Office premises, and the Katra Police Station, reaffirming a strong institutional commitment toward environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The collaborative drive brought together key administrative and security officials, including Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board CEO Sachin Kumar Vaishya, SSP Reasi Mukund Tibrewal, and CRPF 6th Battalion Commanding Officer Pardeep Kumar Giri, along with the Additional SP Katra, SDPO Katra, and the Katra SHO.
The joint initiative aimed to actively promote environmental awareness, encourage eco-friendly practices, and contribute toward building a greener and healthier ecosystem for the entire region.Addressing the participants, Shiv Kumar Sharma emphasized the critical importance of environmental protection, highlighting that preserving nature for future generations is a collective responsibility of every citizen.
He noted that police personnel should lead by example in promoting sustainability and spreading awareness. He further observed that such plantation drives play a crucial role in combating climate change, improving air quality, and maintaining ecological balance, urging everyone to adopt sustainable habits before concluding the event with a collective pledge for a cleaner and greener future.
