Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Directs Timely Completion of Development Projects During Bandipora Visit

BANDIPORA, June 10: Reinforcing the government’s focus on infrastructure development and public welfare, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Tuesday conducted an extensive tour of Bandipora district to review the progress of several key development projects and assess their on-ground implementation.

Accompanied by Nizam-ud-Din Bhat and Hilal Akbar Lone, the Deputy Chief Minister stressed the importance of maintaining quality standards while ensuring that all projects are completed within stipulated timelines. During the visit, he inspected the ongoing construction of the 1×20-metre double-lane composite bridge at Naninara in Sumbal and directed executing agencies to accelerate work without compromising quality. He also visited the proposed Sumbal Foot Bridge near the shrine of Ahmad Sahib Naninara and assured residents that the long-pending project would be taken up on priority to improve connectivity and public convenience. Reviewing works at Garoora Bridge, he instructed officials to expedite construction and ensure timely completion.

At Gulshan Chowk in Bandipora town, he assessed progress on a car parking facility project, noting that it would help ease traffic congestion and improve parking management in the busy market area. The Deputy Chief Minister also inspected the Girls Hostel and Composite Building at Nadim Memorial Higher Secondary School in Kaloosa, emphasizing the need for quality educational infrastructure to support students. During his inspection of the Sopore–Bandipora Road, he directed officials to speed up ongoing works aimed at improving road connectivity, commuter safety and travel convenience.

Addressing a public gathering at a stone quarry site in Gund Saderkote, Choudhary assured people that their genuine concerns and developmental demands would be taken up with the relevant authorities. He later met a deputation at Kaloosa Bridge and assured them of prompt action on their issues. In a significant announcement, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the construction of a new bridge on the Bandipora–Sopore road and released ₹1.2 crore for the project. He reiterated that all executing agencies and departments must ensure speedy execution, maintain quality benchmarks and complete projects in a time-bound manner so that the benefits reach the people without delay. Senior officers from the district administration, engineering wings and various departments accompanied him during the inspection tour.
