Congress Announces Candidates for 2026 Rajya Sabha Biennial Elections; Abhishek Manu Singhvi Nominated from Telangana

NEW DELHI, March 5, 2026 — The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has officially released its list of candidates for the upcoming 2026 Rajya Sabha biennial elections.

Following approval from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the party has strategically selected six representatives across five key states to contest for seats in the Upper House of Parliament.

The announcement, signed by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, features prominent legal luminary Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who has been nominated from Telangana alongside Vem Narender Reddy.

The party has also focused on regional representation by fielding Phulo Devi Netam from Chhattisgarh and Karamvir Singh Boudh from Haryana.

In Himachal Pradesh, the Congress has placed its trust in Anurag Sharma, currently serving as the DCC President of Kangra. Completing the list is M. Christopher Tilak, who will contest as the party’s candidate from Tamil Nadu.

This selection reflects the party’s latest organizational strategy as it prepares for the crucial legislative transition in the Rajya Sabha.
