Awantipora authorities demolish illegal property of drug peddler in Chersoo
AWANTIPORA, June 04, 2026:- Police in Awantipora, in coordination with the civil administration, demolished an illegally constructed commercial property belonging to a notorious drug peddler as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan.
The demolished structure, which comprised two shops and a cowshed, belonged to Nisar Ahmad Khanday, a resident of Katipora, Chersoo. The demolition drive was carried out in the presence of the Awantipora Tehsildar, local revenue officials, and police officers after following all due legal procedures.
The accused has been involved in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and is a known offender connected to regional narcotics trafficking.
Authorities stated that the action reflects the firm resolve of the police and the district administration to take stringent measures against drug peddlers by dismantling assets and infrastructure associated with the illegal drug trade.
The police reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace and appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information regarding local drug trafficking and substance abuse.
