Anand Jain Appointed New Ladakh DGP: MHA Transfers Senior IPS Officer from Jammu & Kashmir
NEW DELHI / LEH: In a major top-level security realignment within the AGMUT cadre, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has officially appointed senior IPS officer Anand Jain as the new Director General of Police (DGP) for the strategically critical Union Territory of Ladakh. According to the formal transfer order issued on June 22, 2026, from Kartavya Bhavan, New Delhi, by MHA Under Secretary/Consultant C.P. Vinod Kumar, the 1999-batch officer has been moved from Jammu & Kashmir to take charge of the top policing post in Ladakh with immediate effect. Widely respected for his vast experience in security management, intelligence coordination, and public order enforcement, Jain’s transition marks a vital leadership shift in a high-altitude border region that shares sensitive frontiers with both China and Pakistan.
The appointment underscores the Centre’s strategic focus on placing highly seasoned administrative and operational minds in key border territories. During his impactful tenure in Jammu & Kashmir, Jain successfully navigated intense security challenges, counter-terrorism operations, and complex inter-agency coordination in one of the nation’s most sensitive zones. As he takes the helm of the Ladakh Police, Jain will be tasked with overseeing overall law and order, border-area policing, crime control, and driving the force’s ongoing modernization initiatives. The official directive has been circulated to Chief Secretaries across all AGMUT cadre regions—including Delhi, J&K, Goa, and Puducherry—as Jain prepares to steer the strategic frontier force through its evolving security and administrative landscapes.
