Amritsar Police bust cross border drug cartel with major heroin seizure
AMRITSAR, June 11, 2026 :- The Amritsar Commissionerate Police dismantled a major cross-border drug smuggling network, arresting six individuals and recovering 30.045 kilograms of heroin.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the apprehended suspects were operating under the direction of a Dubai-based smuggler who coordinated the supply of narcotics from across the international border. Following instructions from this operative, the accused retrieved the drug consignments from designated drop points and distributed them to various buyers throughout Punjab.
A formal case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Chheharta police station in Amritsar. Law enforcement authorities are conducting further investigations to map out the backward and forward linkages of the network, locate other associates involved in the operation, track the financial trail, and identify potential hawala connections.
The Punjab Police stated that the operation is part of an ongoing commitment to breaking down trafficking syndicates and eliminating the drug trade across the state.
