Amritsar Police Bust Cross-Border Arms and Hawala Network

AMRITSAR June 08,2026— The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled a major cross-border illegal arms smuggling and hawala network, arresting four suspects, including an Afghan national.

During the operation, law enforcement officials recovered eight sophisticated pistols and seven live cartridges from the possession of the accused.Initial investigations indicate that the suspects were operating in coordination with a foreign-based smuggler.

This supplier reportedly utilized concealed drop locations to deliver illegal weapon consignments across the border, which were then intended for distribution to various criminal elements.

Following the arrests, official cases have been registered at the Islamabad and Gate Hakima police stations in Amritsar.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to map out both backward and forward linkages of the operation, identify additional associates tied to the international network, and pursue further recoveries and arrests.
