Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Jammu and Kashmir with Flash Flood and Landslide Risks

SRINAGAR, August 10, 2026 — Heavy to very heavy rainfall is projected to hit parts of Jammu and Kashmir on August 11, raising significant concerns for flash floods, landslides, and localized waterlogging.

According to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, widespread rain and thundershowers are expected to peak on August 11, with the Jammu division anticipating intense downpours and Kashmir facing brief spells of heavy precipitation, particularly on the night of August 11.

Weather officials warned that torrential downpours could disrupt vulnerable areas and submerge low-lying regions. Following the main event, light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers are predicted to continue in many areas from August 12 through August 16, with another fresh spell expected between August 17 and August 19.

Authorities across the territory have been advised to maintain a high state of alertness to manage potential risks associated with flash flooding and terrain instability.
