Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026: LG Manoj Sinha Reviews Pilgrim Facilities at Srinagar Transit Camp

SRINAGAR, JULY 09: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Yatra Transit Camp and Yatri Niwas at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar on Thursday to review the arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. During his visit, Sinha interacted with officials and pilgrims to evaluate the on-site facilities, directing administrators to ensure round-the-clock care for every devotee. He emphasized that from registration to accommodation and catering, no pilgrim should face any inconvenience, stating it is a collective responsibility to make their stay in Jammu Kashmir divine and comfortable. The visit covered a comprehensive stock-taking of essential services, including sanitation, security, healthcare, drinking water, power supply, and firefighting measures implemented by various departments to ensure the safety of the yatris.

Data from the past week indicates a significant surge in devotee numbers compared to last year. Sinha noted that this increase is a blessing for the region’s spiritual heritage and a positive booster for Jammu Kashmir’s tourism and local economy. He also highlighted an initiative to promote local craftsmanship, expressing his desire for the rich handicrafts and handloom products of Jammu Kashmir to reach households across the country. According to Sinha, integrating these unique heritage items into the pilgrimage experience honors local artisans and strengthens the “One District One Product” campaign by weaving together faith, culture, and economic prosperity.

Lauding the coordinated efforts of the district administration, line departments, Shrine Board, police, and security forces, Sinha stressed the importance of maintaining tight coordination and vigilance. He called for effective crowd management, a hassle-free registration process, and timely information updates for the pilgrims, while ordering strict legal action against anyone involved in fraudulent registration practices. The Lieutenant Governor was accompanied during the inspection by DGP Nalin Prabhat; CEO of the Amarnathji Shrine Board Mandeep K. Bhandari; IGP Kashmir V K Birdi; Divisional Commissioner Srinagar Anshul Garg; DIG CKR Rajiv Pandey; SSP Srinagar GV Sundeep Chakravarthy; Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo; Municipal Commissioner Srinagar Faz Lul Haseeb; and other senior officials.
