Jammu and Kashmir Police Destroy Narcotics Worth Over ₹2.33 Crore in Kathua Anti-Drug Drive

KATHUA, July 9 — In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua destroyed a massive consignment of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances valued at approximately ₹2,32,86,490. A total of 174.981 kg of various contraband materials alongside 1,945 capsules and tablets were incinerated at the authorized facility of M/s Anmol Healthcare, located in Rara within the Ramgarh Police Station jurisdiction of Samba district. The destroyed illicit haul comprised seizures from 43 different cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which had been securely stored across various police malkhanas.

The standard legal procedure for incineration was strictly followed and carried out by a specialized police team led by SSP Kathua, Mohita Sharma, IPS. The process was completed under the authorization of the competent authority and witnessed by designated committee members after all necessary statutory formalities were fulfilled. The precise breakdown of the destroyed contraband included 2.05 kg of heroin, 1,036 capsules, 909 tablets, 7.68 kg of ganja, 162.649 kg of poppy straw, 2.126 kg of charas, and 482 grams of opium.

Following the disposal, SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the district police to their ongoing anti-drug campaign. Sharma emphasized that law enforcement will continue to enforce stringent actions against drug traffickers while ensuring the transparent and timely disposal of seized narcotics in compliance with legal protocols.
