J&K High Level Drug Disposal Committee destroys contraband narcotics worth 150 crore rupees

JAMMU, Jul 7: Under the ongoing drug destruction Pakhwada, the High-Level Drug Disposal Committee of Jammu and Kashmir disposed of a massive haul of seized narcotic substances following directions from the police headquarters and the Special NDPS Court.

The high-level committee, headed by Inspector General of Police Crime Sarah Rizvi, oversaw the destruction of illicit drugs pertaining to cases from the Drug Enforcement Directorate Jammu, Police Station Nowshera, and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force Jammu.

The destroyed contraband included 31.291 kilograms of heroin, 131.8 grams of opium, and 590 liters of corex-type cough syrup, with a total estimated value exceeding 150 crore rupees in the international market.The disposal was carried out through scientific incineration at a specialized healthcare facility in Rakh Rara, Vijaypur, Samba, while strictly adhering to all prescribed legal procedures and environmental safety norms.

The entire process was conducted under the supervision of the Inspector General of Police Crime Branch, alongside regional Deputy Inspectors General and District Senior Superintendents of Police who comprise the committee.

The proceedings were coordinated on the ground by Anti-Narcotics Task Force Senior Superintendent of Police Anwar Ul Haq. The destruction of this large volume of narcotic substances underscores the unwavering commitment of local law enforcement agencies toward eradicating drug trafficking and implementing strict narcotics laws.
