Mana Pass Challenge 1.0 high altitude marathon concludes in Uttarakhand
MANA, June 23, 2026The maiden Summit or Surrender – Mana Pass Challenge 1.0 successfully culminated in the Garhwal Himalayas, setting a new benchmark for high-altitude endurance and adventure sports. Commencing from the formidable Mana Pass at an altitude of 18,500 feet, the grueling race tested the limits of human endurance, resilience, and determination in one of the most demanding terrains in the world.
A total of 88 runners, comprising seven women and 81 men between the ages of 18 and 65 years, participated in the extreme fitness event.More than just a race, the marathon served as a vibrant celebration of courage, camaraderie, and national unity. The Ibex Warriors, alongside members of the Sarmang Society, residents of Mana Village, and adventure enthusiasts from across the country, ran shoulder to shoulder to embody the enduring spirit of national integration and collective resolve.
The event highlighted the capability of participants to perform under severe atmospheric conditions while promoting adventure tourism in the border regions.The successful conduct of this first-ever marathon in the pristine Mana Valley marks a proud milestone for the Vibrant Village Mana.
Nestled amidst some of the most breathtaking natural treasures of the Himalayas, including Indrakursi, Deotal, and the Saraswati Glacier, the area serves as the gateway to the iconic Mana-Kamet and Chaukhamba massifs.
The event successfully showcased the region’s potential for hosting elite endurance sports while bringing national attention to India’s border villages.
