Army Hospital and Command Hospital Pune enable life saving multi organ transplant

PUNE, June 23, 2026 :- The transplant team at Command Hospital Southern Command in Pune, collaborating with the Army Hospital Research and Referral in New Delhi, successfully facilitated a life-saving multi-organ donation.

The organs were retrieved from the mother of a serving Junior Commissioned Officer and included a liver, two kidneys, and corneas, providing a new lease on life for multiple patients.Following the retrieval, one of the kidneys was immediately transplanted to a serving soldier at the Command Hospital in Pune.

Meanwhile, a seamless green corridor was quickly established to transport the liver and the remaining kidney to Delhi, ensuring the vital organs reached two additional recipients without delay.

This successful, highly coordinated medical effort highlights the clinical excellence and strong synergy between the two military hospitals. The operation reflects the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces to serve humanity and save lives during critical moments.
