Army Institute of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences in Pune successfully saves veteran relative using advanced life support
PUNE, June 19, 2026 — Specialists at the Army Institute of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences in Pune successfully treated a 60-year-old father of a serving Army personnel who had suffered a severe head injury and life-threatening breathing failure.
The medical team utilized advanced heart-lung support to maintain vital functions while allowing the patient’s lungs to recover. This complex treatment was made possible through a seamless collaborative effort and teamwork across the Command Hospital Southern Command, the Armed Forces Medical College, and the Army Institute of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences, which allowed the patient to gradually regain his strength.
