Jammu and Kashmir Weather Update as Rain and Thundershowers Forecast Across Regions

SRINAGAR June 18,2026 :- The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh nowcast predicting a widespread spell of rain and thundershowers across multiple locations in both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions. The affected areas include Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch, and their adjoining zones.

Additionally, the weather system is expected to impact the Sonamarg-Baltal-Holy Cave axis, bringing brief but intense showers, thunderstorms, hailstorms, and gusty winds at a few locations over the next three to five hours.In light of these conditions, authorities have issued a public advisory urging residents to stay indoors during periods of thunderstorms and lightning, while strictly avoiding loose structures, electric wires, utility poles, and old trees.

Weather officials have highlighted the possibility of hailstorms accompanied by intense showers over select areas, including Tangdhar, Kupwara, Handwara, Badgam, Uri, Kokernag, Ganderbal, and Shopian. Furthermore, isolated pockets within Tangdhar, Kupwara, Kokernag, Banihal, Kishtwar, and Badgam face a high likelihood of intense downpours that could potentially trigger flash floods and mudslides within the next three hours.
