Kathua administration begins daily yoga sessions ahead of International Yoga Day

KATHUA, June 15, 2026 :- The district administration of Kathua, in collaboration with the District AYUSH Office, organized a yoga session at Government High School Lakhanpur today to kick off the lead-up to the 12th International Day of Yoga. Held under the “Yoga 365” campaign with the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the event featured an AYUSH team, including Nodal Officer Bodh Paul and Yoga Instructor Ankush Modeel, who demonstrated various yoga asanas and pranayama techniques to promote physical fitness and stress management.

To encourage a healthy, drug-free lifestyle, participants were also administered a pledge under the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” initiative.The session was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma, alongside directions from Director AYUSH Jammu and Kashmir Ajay Kumar Tikoo and the supervision of District AYUSH Officer Rakesh Kumar Sharma.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to citizens to actively participate in the upcoming daily sessions and integrate yoga into their routines for a healthier lifestyle. As part of the ongoing campaign, daily yoga sessions are scheduled for 7:00 am at Dream Land Park Kathua on June 16, Birla Park Kathua on June 17, Government High School Kadyala Hiranagar on June 18, Zananna Park Kathua on June 19, and Purthu Ground Basohli on June 20.

Executive Officer Lakhanpur Prithvi Sangra and Headmaster Tarsem Lal were present at the opening event alongside local staff and community members.
