Javid Dar Reviews Social Welfare Schemes, Urges Greater Public Outreach in Srinagar
SRINAGAR, JUNE 10: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives, and Elections, Javid Ahmad Dar, chaired a comprehensive review meeting today to evaluate the implementation and progress of various social welfare schemes within his constituency. The high-level meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary of Social Welfare, Sarmad Hafeez, alongside senior departmental officers and concerned officials. The team presented a detailed overview of the current status and achievements of ongoing welfare programs specifically designed to support the vulnerable segments of society.
During the deliberations, Minister Dar closely examined the coverage of diverse pension initiatives, with a particular focus on the Old Age Pension Scheme. He sought precise data regarding eligible beneficiaries who have not yet been integrated into the system and directed officials to expedite their identification. Emphasizing a transparent and time-bound approach, the Minister instructed the department to organize widespread awareness campaigns and specialized outreach camps across the constituency. These camps aim to streamline the registration and inclusion of senior citizens, widows, and specially-abled individuals into government welfare frameworks.
Furthermore, Minister Dar underscored the critical need for distributing assistive devices, such as tricycles and other mobility aids, to eligible persons with disabilities in strict accordance with prescribed guidelines. While appreciating the Social Welfare Department’s vital role in fostering an inclusive and equitable society, he urged the officers to work with renewed dedication. He concluded by emphasizing that ensuring government benefits reach every deserving household is essential to strengthening social security and significantly elevating the community’s quality of life. In response, Commissioner Secretary Sarmad Hafeez assured the Minister that all necessary measures would be swiftly deployed to expand the reach and efficiency of these essential programs.
