Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Lays Foundation for Underground Utility Project in Shimla

SHIMLA June 08,2026 — Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu laid the foundation stone for an underground utility duct project worth 246 crore rupees in Shimla.

Under this ambitious project, an integrated underground utility network will be developed across several key areas, including Chhota Shimla to Willy’s Park and Chaura Maidan, Lok Bhavan to Oak Over, and Sher-e-Punjab to CTO Chowk via Lower Bazaar.

Once completed, the project will streamline the maintenance of electricity, telecommunications, and other essential utility services, significantly reducing the frequent digging of roads. This infrastructure upgrade is expected to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the capital city, improve public amenities, and provide tourists with a more organized and attractive urban experience.

Furthermore, the underground network will play a crucial role in ensuring the uninterrupted availability of essential services during heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions.
