Kathua police launch mega plantation drive across district on World Environment Day
KATHUA June 05,2026 — The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua organized a district-wide mega plantation drive in observance of World Environment Day to reaffirm their commitment to a green and sustainable future.
Led by SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, the environmental initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from all supervisory officers and police personnel of all ranks across various jurisdictions.
Saplings were planted simultaneously within the premises of all police stations, police posts, border police posts, District Police Lines Kathua, and other police establishments. Thousands of saplings were planted across the district during the drive, which also saw members of the public, students, and representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions joining hands with police personnel to reflect a strong community-police synergy for environmental protection.
During the event, Mohita Sharma emphasized that environmental protection is a collective responsibility and noted that the plantation drive marks the beginning of a long-term commitment to keeping Kathua clean and green. The police department also appealed to local citizens to actively come forward and make tree plantation a regular habit to ensure sustainable regional development.
