Ministry of Petroleum Clarifies No Petrol or Diesel Price Hike Proposals Under Consideration

NEW DELHI, April 23, 2026:-The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has officially dismissed recent news reports regarding a potential price hike for petrol and diesel, labeling them as fake and misleading.

In a statement issued to clarify the government’s stance, the ministry confirmed that no such proposal for a price increase is currently under consideration.

Officials characterized these reports as mischievous attempts to create unnecessary fear and panic among the public, urging citizens to rely only on official communications regarding fuel pricing.

The ministry further highlighted that India remains a global outlier, having maintained stable petrol and diesel prices over the past four years despite volatility in the global market.

According to the government, consistent efforts by the Ministry and Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) oil companies have been instrumental in insulating Indian consumers from the steep rises in international oil prices.

This proactive approach continues to be a priority for the government to ensure economic stability and protect citizens from global inflationary pressures.
