Two Earthquakes Strike Doda in Jammu and Kashmir: Early Morning Tremors Spark Concern
DODA, J&K, April 12, 2026— Residents of the Doda region in Jammu and Kashmir were jolted from their sleep early this morning as two back-to-back earthquakes struck the district within a span of fifteen minutes.
According to data compiled by Kashmir Weather Watch, the first and more significant seismic event occurred at 04:22 AM (IST), registering a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale at a shallow depth of 10 km.
This initial quake was followed closely by a second, weaker tremor at 04:37 AM (IST), which measured a magnitude of 3.0 and also originated at a depth of 10 km.
While the successive tremors triggered immediate concern across the mountainous district, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant structural damage; however, authorities continue to monitor the situation as the region remains geologically sensitive.
