Operation Dhahabu Blitz: DRI Mumbai Seizes 30kg Smuggled Gold and Arrests 24 Foreign Nationals
MUMBAI, April 09, 2026— In a massive blow to international smuggling networks, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) successfully dismantled a highly organized gold syndicate at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport under the strategic “Operation Dhahabu Blitz.”
Acting on precise intelligence, DRI officers intercepted 24 female foreign nationals arriving from Nairobi who were attempting to smuggle a massive haul into the country.
The coordinated enforcement action led to the recovery of 25.10 kg of gold bars and 4.27 kg of gold jewelry, totaling approximately 29.37 kg with an estimated market value of ₹37.74 crore.
This operation highlights a sophisticated smuggling model involving trained carriers used to bypass traditional security checks.
All 24 suspects have been arrested as the DRI continues its mission to safeguard India’s economic interests and dismantle the logistical roots of such illicit cross-border networks.
