INS Trikand Reaches Tanzania to Strengthen Maritime Ties Under India’s MAHASAGAR Vision
DAR-ES-SALAAM – As part of a strategic deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region, the Indian Navy’s frontline guided missile frigate, INS Trikand, arrived at the port of Dar-es-Salaam on April 3, 2026. This high-profile visit is aimed at bolstering bilateral relations and maritime cooperation between India and Tanzania.
During the stay, Captain Sachin Kulkarni, the Commanding Officer, is scheduled to meet with senior leadership from the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces and government dignitaries to discuss regional security and mutual interests.
A significant highlight of the visit includes the delivery of critical stores transported from India, which will be formally handed over to Tanzanian authorities.The port call features a comprehensive schedule of professional and social engagements designed to enhance interoperability between the two navies.
Activities include joint training sessions focused on maritime security, alongside community-building events such as yoga sessions, friendly sports competitions, and a cultural evening hosted onboard the ship to strengthen people-to-people ties.
This mission by INS Trikand is a direct reflection of India’s MAHASAGAR initiative (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Region), emphasizing the nation’s commitment to being a preferred security partner in the Indian Ocean.
